A taste of India, rooted since 1980
In 1980, Dr. Kailash Goenka opened a single restaurant in Ahmedabad with an uncompromising devotion to authentic South Indian cuisine. Four decades later, that resolve has grown into a global institution of 150+ restaurants and three Guinness World Records.
The first kitchen in Ahmedabad
Dr. Goenka's vision was specific: bring the exacting craft of the South Indian kitchen — precisely fermented idli batter, perfectly crisp Dosa — to diners who demanded the genuine article. Gujarat Tourism would later recognise Sankalp as the most authentic South Indian restaurant in the region.
A menu as vast as the subcontinent
From the beginning, Sankalp refused to be defined by a single region — growing its repertoire to span crispy Dosas, tandoor-kissed Paneer Tikka, street-style Chole Bhatura, Indo-Chinese creations, and Gujarati classics under one roof.
Three Guinness World Records
In 1997, Sankalp earned its first Guinness World Record for the world's longest Dosa — then broke its own record in 2006 and again in 2013 with an astonishing 53.3-foot creation that remains unmatched to this day.
From Gujarat to across America
Sankalp now spans communities from New Jersey to Texas, metro Atlanta to suburban San Diego — each location upholding the standards set in that first Ahmedabad kitchen and recognised by the Times Food Award, TripAdvisor Traveller's Choice, and the Coca-Cola Golden Spoon Award.
